Dingo.

My sweet dog is named Dingo. He was supposed to be 40 pounds and he's the runt but instead he's like 90. When we first got him, and now occasionally we make jokes about Dingo eating the baby [rabbit]. He's such a good dog though.

Anyway, did you see the conclusion to this? How heartbreakingly long for them to have to deal with that.

Is this what you always think of? Because I do.

Olympics

Watched the opening ceremonies with my friend Beth, made a cake to celebrate the start of the Olympics! I think my favorite things to watch are beach volleyball and swimming. Love the Olympics...
And hooray for Danny Boyle! He did a great great job with the ceremonies.

On the outside it's unbiased, but on the inside... USA! USA! USA! USA!

MISC, the doctor.

Can I geek out this Friday?!
Last month when I was at camp I stumbled with my sugar shack treat into a group of young teens dissecting Moffet versus Davies (and if you love the writing and aren't watching Sherlock shame on you). Poor things, I think it was a terrible shock to their hipster sensibilities to have an old fogey who demanded they drink more water and wear more sunscreen and kissed their heads plop down next to them and have strong opinions on the future of Doctor Who. Oh well.

The panel. I might die without the Ponds. Really really.

How about a tattoo? Perhaps a little more subtle don't blink tattoo instead?

The 2012 Q&A.

I want a shirt, but which one?!? Here are my options.. the moon or the ridiculous classic.

The final piece of a Halloween costume costume.

Arts and crafts anyone?

And finally, three silly videos.

26.7.12

Neon feet.

I need shoes for work! They have to be something I can wear on my feet that will make me smile and that I can stand in all day. Any ideas? I like both of these but I want to go to the store (I'm not much of a buy it online person)... I'm digging the grey with neon trend. LOVE IT.

Big splurge

My mom said something about me that I hadn't realized- when big things happen in my life (birthdays, jobs, graduation, etc) my first instinct is to buy something to celebrate. Mostly clothes but sometimes bags or trips. And I don't think treating yourself is bad BUT I should be more deliberate about it, and less needy (does that make sense?). I don't need stuff to celebrate, to be ecstatic about victories.

Isn't that weird when someone reveals something true about you that you have never seen in yourself until that moment?

THE BLAINE.

My maybe splurge once I have an emergency fund and all the actual important things.

24.7.12

na na na na na na na na na... Batman!

(photo from here)

Went to Batman on Saturday with my parents and friends.
Holy cow Batman!
I especially loved Levitt's everyman- because Batman resonates with me as flawed people believing in the redemption of other flawed people.
There is always hope.

Then we went and got Ben and Jerry's and talked until 11.
All in all I'd say it was a successful evening.
P.S. I like that Nolan set a limit, an arc of movies. Like Sherlock. Three really great quality movies and move on. Not like Jaws. Or Rocky.

23.7.12

First Day.

Start my new job today.
Yikes!

It's just paperwork and getting my photo taken but I'm still stoked.

20.7.12

MISC.

How is it Friday already? My mom comes home from camp tomorrow and I'll be at a meeting for camp! Summer is a haze of otter pops and sunburns and meeting in passing. This is the first summer in Washington where I have embraced the sun and tried to be out in it. I'm not sure what's happening to me. Also, how striking is this photo!? I think El looks stunning. Cody reminds me of the bad guy from the Incredibles... there are so many things to love about camp and this photo is definitely one of them.

Naughty Christmas in July.

This is a spectacular wedding.

Nurse chic, ha! Maybe Milan can pull that off.

One of my favorite scenes from Modern Family.

I want this outfit. Also I want to know how to play an instrument.

19.7.12

BFF's

Have you meant my BFF Indibandana?
I call him that because he wears a bandana and his name is Indiana. You see?
We're hanging out today with sister and the Doctor. Rough life I know.

Watch. Discuss.

I think they bring a valid point.
And I think it's one of the (when we do "church" the way we should) crowning glories of the Christian community. We defend humanity, not just Southern Baptists or people within a ten mile radius of our buildings or homes. We have a common ground with everyone, even people in different walks of life with nothing visibly similar.

Alright, enough hippie talk.

18.7.12

Wednesday.

This is the last day of doing nothing in my foreseeable future

SO

I'm watching tv. In my underwear.
Auggie and Annie :D

17.7.12

Whew!

I'm home and semi settled! I haven't unpacked my car yet but I cheered my mom across the finish line for her marathon, got a job and signed on for a surprise week of camp. I'd say it's been a productive three days.

In other news have you seen this clip yet?
I like that it's highly polarizing... I enjoy my media to be polarizing and my friendships to smooth over differences.

13.7.12

MISC.

Last full day of camp! Despite writing this a week early I'm going to go out on a limb and say I'm exhausted, and that I have no more clean clothes. My mom is running her first and only marathon this weekend, isn't she impressive? I'm volunteering as something at the race. A busy weekend to finish the week but I'm pretty stoked. Hope you have a weekend as exciting as this as well!

(Love that bow! And the lavender in the drinks... from here)

I love popsicles!

My brother gets Entertainment Weekly for free for some reason (have I told you this before?) but I read it religiously. Comic-Con and Walking Dead? I think I will!

Speaking of nerdy things...

Maybe Sweden for my new place crush?

You don't get soccer?

Sewing your own leggings, yes please!

This song never fails to make me smile.

12.7.12

Dear Lord.

Please let this magically appear under my pillow when I wake up still exhausted tomorrow morning. Because you know what camp needs? Some Downton.

Free slurpies.
Excellent.

10.7.12

Every baby deserves a handmade blanket.

That's my philosophy anyway.
I think baby blankets are the best things to crochet because they are all the satisfaction of a full blanket without the months and months of crocheting and lugging around a blanket.

I love this pattern (except weaving in the millions of strings at the end)! I've been hoarding away the mint green for a perfect time and I think this baby was the perfect time.

When he gets here I will take a million sweet pictures with him in his new blanket.
I. Cannot. Wait.

9.7.12

Camping.

Being at camp always makes me want to spend more time outside. I think with a thermos, a hammock, a waterproof camera (because you never know), and an Arsenal blanket you could be outside all day. And a good book of course. We're doing another trip camping this summer, 5 days by a lake. Yes please!

6.7.12

MISC

Today is the first day of camp! Yahoo! A week full of medications and tummy aches, I cannot wait! This is the first year since I was... thirteen? twelve? since I was young that I haven't been a counselor. I'm excited for a new challenge though! Isn't this red cross shirt cute?!? I wish I had one for tomorrow when the kids get here but I'll make do.

The itch to move is practically giving me hives with this apartment!

Getting hurt would be a little less terrible with a pretty first aid kit.

A teen from my church makes these earrings and I dig them! Funny story: my best friends from high school have given me earrings for Christmas every year (except this one) since high school. No pierced ears. I guess it's just a very common thing.

I'm intrigued by the idea of a wall full of dressers.

The boots I got for Christmas two years ago and wore all over Europe barely look worn. Debating a pair of the Hadly blacks!

What a breezy summer dress.

A cozy mountain cabin in winter seems like the perfect retreat (we stayed here in the summer and I can only imagine how the snow would make it). And a winter party.

T mobile's genius marketing.

5.7.12

Guests.

I honestly think the thing I'm most excited about in owning a home is having guests stay the night. Also being able to paint every single wall blinding white. But really, once I get a house I might demand that my little brother spend the night just so I can bake cookies and put out an extra blanket for him.

I housesat for some friends this winter and my favorite thing about the whole weekend was the gorgeous carafe by my bed. I'm not a middle-of-the-night drinker but I had a few sips before bed just to use it! And with a built in glass, genius. Here is a guide to being the perfect hostess (I think fresh flowers is such a simple but brilliant idea).

An option.

4.7.12

Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.

(photo from here)

Did you know that July 4 is the day the wording for the Declaration was approved but that it wasn't signed until August?? There are so many important dates in our history that tie to the Revolution, maybe they thought it would be best to keep it simple.

Enjoy your holiday and the beautiful weather! Take the time to celebrate John Adams (my favorite), Thomas Jefferson (Joshua's favorite) and George Washington (everyone's favorite)! Eat watermelon!

P.S. When I say July I like to say it like "JEW lie" with the emphasis hard on the first syllable. Because I think it's funny.

P.P.S. Do you think it is significant that they believed only the pursuit of happiness was a right, not happiness itself? Or do you think that was a poetic way of describing the freedom of America?

3.7.12

Castle times.

Went to a castle wedding. Beautiful bride, sweet ceremony, the best company. This is one of 7 photos we took standing in this exact place. There's not one where we aren't all looking at each other and laughing. I've grown up with these people, from gangly 7th graders to getting married! It's so crazy to think about. We are lucky ducks to manage that.

(Us at our last wedding, now we've all got new loves and some people have sparkly rings to go along with each other.)

2.7.12

Helloooooo Santa!

Santa's a tough guy! Love love love the tattoos.
Saw a trailer for this movie during Abrahan Lincoln Vampire Hunter (which was AWESOME).
