MISC

Heather is going to be in town this weekend! Yay! She is my birthday present from my mother (this is the second time someone has been brought from Portland to be my birthday present, which is weird but really truly one of the best presents ever). So while we play True American, eat ice cream, and maybe figure out a couple of things to make this apartment less rental-y you can enjoy this photo of my kitty in her new favorite toy: a drink holder. We look like terrible parents... there's an empty torn up bag and a drink holder on the floor just lying about. I swear she loves them most!

OH MY DEAR LORD.

You need a 1D mural? I thought so.

Fig and goat cheese bruschetta.

We built this schmiddy!

A great article, real.

A great article, fake.

This coat looks ridiculous in photos but it is gorgeous! The nurse practitioner I work with has one and it's drool worthy.

Have you explored? It's terrible and wonderful. I want to go. I'm ready!

Christmas, christmas!

We just hit the halfway mark on Christmas presents- excluding homemade food bits we're nearly done! If I'm not done before black Friday I start to get anxious... this is normal. I am sure of it. I can't imagine Christmas Eve shopping, how do you get the perfect present? Settling on Christmas seems like it should be illegal. So, fair warning, it might get Christmassy early around these parts. No lights until the day after Christmas but all other bets are off.

This year for Christmas we are having a friend take photos while we choose our Christmas tree- since the family is grown and complete (until grandbabies!) we figured we should get some photos. I vote we all wear plaid but so far only Katrina and I love that.

We're definitely getting one of these to commemorate Christmas 1.

CHRISTMAS IS COMING. HIDE YOUR KIDS, HIDE YOUR WIFE.

So funny.

Anyone else get the craving for Dumb and Dumber sometimes? When Joshua dropped me off at the airport I got to reenact this- although he was driving away with me at the curb. Details.

House Home.

This might sound ridiculous but I promise I'm not trying to be. Do you ever have times where the only safe place is home? When work isn't safe and church isn't safe and the only safe place 1`aT`QW (that was kitty being a helpful typist) is when you walk in the door? I'm totally there right now.

While I desperately want to own a home that I can put hardwood in and paint all white and have cement counters and herbs growing on the counter. Instead I live in a carpeted rental with beige walls and weird plastic tub.

It's cool though. I got this.
I think Joshua and I strongly lean toward a stlye that is 100% modern. And Scandinavian.
But it's not the most practical for where we are now.

AND SO. I think minimalist camp is where we're at. It's a couple of years and then we change or (more likely) move. Not that a house has to be a vignette. But it helps me feel put together to have my house slightly put together.

I think we might add this wallpaper to a wall.

And we've already added this lovely blanket to our bed.

We have some old chairs that I might try this trick on to revamp them, I''m saving for this rug (which will work when we move/change), and I've been looking at these simple thoughts and homes for inspiration.
Oh! And Heather sent me this killer place. Great.
