26.12.12

Boxing Day.

Back to work slaves!
Buy a lamp to get through it if you have to.

24.12.12

Merry Christmas.

From my family to yours.

21.12.12

Ben.

It's been too long since I posted a Ben Howard song. He's touring with Mumford, so there goes my dream show to the East Coast.
Also maybe my favorite concert tee ever. I love simple.

20.12.12

Quiet.

I've felt really quiet this week.

No radio in the car.
No break room for lunch.
Not much blogging.

19.12.12

WANT NEED WEAR READ.

Anyone else have a mom that's the bees knees?
My mom is into experiences so her presents this year from me aren't quite this tangible (we're going to dinner and a couple of other secret presents), but if she wanted things this is what I'd get her.

A framed copy of her favorite photo from Europe- people should have pretty photos of themselves in their homes don't you think?

Need? Definitely a netflix subscription, so she can watch Sons of Anarchy and Burn Notice whenever she feels like it (and maybe a copy of Hamlet to go along with SOA...)

A warm blanket to snuggle with late at night while watching Netflix.

A book that's an experience! So good, so good for you!

12.12.12

Soup coup.

Soup has taken over my taste buds.
ALL I WANT IT SOUP!!!

I get soup whenever I go out to eat (especially tomato soup holy balls).
I made split pea soup for potluck today- depressingly I'm already at work and had to delay post this...
Do you think soup is art?

Brocoli soup.

Tomato soup.

10.12.12

Wrapping paper.

Do you have a method to the wrapping paper madness?

This year I wrapped all the XME (Christmas Eve) presents in the same paper with green ribbon, the regular presents in white kraft paper with ribbons or flower tags, and anything bought in December is in gold paper. The day I bought the last of my presents I found this Rodarte for Target paper and rushed out (I'm not even kidding! I left ten minutes after I saw it online) to buy the LAST TWO ROLLS! That was my Black Friday madness moment. Also the sales clerks all directed me incorrectly to Christmas section of the store and I wanted to sock them.

But seriously wouldn't you kill for this moon paper? I might frame a piece on my wall as art. Or something from Hubble...

8.12.12

MISC

Going to Zoolights tonight with Joshua's family.
And sewing presents.
And stockings.

On another note- have you ever been to Marshalls? I'm never going back there, it's a black hole of things you want to buy. Yikes.

I bought a Pendleton herringbone coat at Goodwill but I need to get it taken in before I wear it. Good to see it's still trendy though.

Norman Reedus. GQ. Yes.

Anyone into science fiction? NPR might be...

Did you see this great video? He is the best ever, even if he raps about fish-filets (which are gross).

Hold on to me so tight Jimmy Fallon! Or you know, British people.

Mumford.

This movie will be delightful.

6.12.12

Associations.

ACOJ posted this and it made me laugh because at least once a week I tell Joshua how much I still love this song... finally jewelry so I don't have to talk about it so much, I can just wear it!

5.12.12

Moccs.

Look what showed up at my bf's house?
Yay!

4.12.12

Merle.

I love the Walking Dead.

But it's nice that it's over for the holiday season I won't lie.
It's nice to have my life back.
... Until February.

An article with Carol.
And a spoiler video.... at least that's what AMC warns. I'm too afraid to watch it.
And finally a silly meme from who knows on the interwebs.

3.12.12

Brave women.

I said I was done buying books for a while since I have five I haven't read and three on hold at the library. BUT
I love WWII stories and this one looks especially heartbreaking and wonderful.

30.11.12

MISC

I had school for two days this week, eight hours at a time so I'm crammed full of knowledge and smarties. I'm going to sleep away my weekend! And by sleep I mean work on Celebrate Jesus and watch Walking Dead and do laundry. I so sleeeeeeeeeeeeepy (last night my car broke down at the mall and I was stuck from 4:30PM to 9:30PM so my bedtime was much later than I wanted)!!! I hope you have a restful weekend- full of Christmas and other wonderful things. Like the Nutcracker.

For our Christmas presents my mom took my family to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra. Every person had long flowing hair- do you think it's a requirement to join? They were wonderful regardless.

Love the reverse french tip. Will try this weekend. Or will pay someone to try next weekend.

Theo Walcott gives me ulcers. How can someone so good be so inconsistent? And maybe not ours?

Interesting question. Interesting answers.

I want to wear this dress all winter. I think it just begs to decorate gingerbread and string lights.

Red bull sponsors the craziest things.

29.11.12

WANT NEED WEAR READ

I have this pretty great boyfriend.
Who deserves a pretty great gift for Christmas! Josh is always the easiest person for me to shop for- maybe because I know him so well. I think I've got some gift for his type nailed down solid.

Like a trip to Disneyland (this year we're going in April instead but it would still be a wonderful Christmas present), which is never complete without Mickey ears!

Tools to make perfect fried eggs to top engrish ruffrins (as he always says it)! Because lets face it, he doesn't really NEED anything.

HOT briefs aren't just for ladies (although with so much thigh showing this would really be a gift for me if he had to fashion show them). Or a warm scarf.

It's supposed to be a Coen brothers film on paper. Perfect.

27.11.12

Equality Now.

Why does he write strong female characters? Tell us Joss!

A favorite Firefly scene.

26.11.12

Christmas stockings.

One made, five to go!
The houndstooth is for my parents stockings (I used this video set from etsy and it was simple and fast).
I'll take a better photo later, it's this great thick cord material.... okay. Done talking about fabric.

22.11.12

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Time to try milk punch.
And buy Christmas cards (I always need more than I think).

I'm so thankful I don't work today!
And for my family. Who goes high ropes coursing with me.

I'm going to read.
And sleep.
Possibly watch Band of Brothers.

21.11.12

Golly.

Still love these girls.

Har.

My brother reposted this from somewhere on facebook and I cannot stop laughing.
Actually laughing. Every time.

On another happy note today is my last day of work for the week. Yahoo!

20.11.12

Christmas party.

I know it's Thanksgiving. I'll post something Thanksgiving-y.
BUT
Black Friday= Christmas party shopping.

Now to find a dress to match these pretties.

16.11.12

MISC.

PORTLAND.
My heart is so happy it might burst.
I'm coming! Wait for meeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I've not made my own lip balm yet- maybe this is the year.

All the reward with none of the wait.

Old people rule.

Elopement is so appealing. And beautiful.

My first company holiday party. I imagine it will end up like Bridget Jones Diary... but what to wear!?

I love soup. LOVE IT. I think maybe we'll make it this weekend.

Nana. So funny.

15.11.12

WANT NEED WEAR READ.

I'm humming Christmas carols at work- it's time. It's time!
I like the idea of paring down Christmas and giving experiences.
Or just paring down, because I don't think I'll ever be able to give up wrapping and giving presents!!

First for my brother, who has given me some wonderful presents (like my panther candle which has guarded over me since college, and a scarf that still smells like the markets of Amsterdam). I think I'd edit it for him though, because wear and need are definitely the same for him. Maybe I'd get him something to eat? I think yes.

Bacon and chocolate. Okay. Yes.

A waterproof jacket for work.

A classic science fiction story.

Duh. What every boy in my life wants.

14.11.12

Oh, okay.

I die.
How good does this look!? So good.
I hope it comes to the Grand!

13.11.12

Shaken baby.

Saw the new Bond film this weekend (what a great photo huh?).
Yowza.
So good.
Double date with my parents, and then Walking Dead. I'll count that as a win!

One of my best friends in high school was British and his father did "something with computers, it's very boring and confusing." Which sounds reasonable right? EXCEPT everyone in the family says the exact same thing. Word for word. I was convinced, jokingly, that he was secret agent. It didn't help that he flew all over the world either! I had forgotten all about that until this weekend after the movie.

12.11.12

Family.

I've been sorting through old photos and this series makes me laugh.
Organizing family photos is tricky isn't it?! At Christmas time we do a family photo with the dog included and the best shot always ends up being with his backside showing! HA! My Grammy and uncle used to live near me but they moved while I was in junior high and it's been just my nuclear family since then... holidays have been a quiet affair.

And then we got spouses and partners and non-traditional family that consists of hordes of kids and noise and games and chaos (often not controlled). I adore it! I feel such comfort and safety in knowing and being known by people I love and trust. Welcome holiday season! I'm eagerly awaiting you!

9.11.12

MISC.

Happy Friday.
Sad things have happened this week.
Death, terminal prognosis, mean words, not enough exercise.
BUT
Today can be happy.
Because I'm here and Joshua is here playing video games with Jarrod in the other room and I have library books to return and a puppy to brush.

I cried.

Regardless of how you feel on the topic, how cute are they?!?

UO nailed these leggings. LOVE!

This trailer makes me so happy.

The only thing I've quoted all week.

8.11.12

DO SOMETHING GOOD.

Even $5 is a commitment to someone besides yourself.

6.11.12

BISON!

I love bison.
Not that I want a pet one or anything but they are my favorite animal ( I used to be obsessed with giraffes because they are so tall).

Wool scarf.
I didn't buy a purse when I got a job. Maybe I'll splurge on this instead. Or a Hermes.

5.11.12

zoo.

Best luck ever with the zoo- no rain, pretty warm, no fussy kiddos.
We got to see the otters and seals being fed, and we got to pet a puppy- they walk lots of the animals around the park and let kids pet them. It's awesome. Last time we touched a lizard! Love the zoo. Levi took the animal pictures, I think the zoo might be his favorite because he can navigate with the map and see animals. My coworkers make fun of me because I go to the zoo so much but it's so fun!

2.11.12

MISC.

The internet guy just left, and now it's miraculously fixed. That's how I feel about all electrical things... do you understand electricity? I feel like a ding dongs but that's how it is. Maybe my resolution for next year will be learning something about whoever flew that kite and invented electricity (Kidding! On both accounts. Franklin only discovered electricity!).

The zoo this weekend!!
My favorite place, with some of my favorite people.
ALSO
My Christmas shopping is nearly complete!
It's not too early to watch Elf right?
I think I'm going to make some soup and call it a day.

Is there a trick to looking cute in the winter?

People are fussing but I think this is the funniest commercial in a long time.

Baked fruit to try this winter.

I wish I could do short hair.

Gladys is still my favorite Ellen moment.

I keep talking about this... when is my next trip to Europe?!

Joshua sent me this, it's me. Completely. The bad gun sounds, the swinging feet.

31.10.12

Tank tops.

I'm obsessed.
Especially with sports ones.
I think I'll probably have to acquire a few this winter for next year.

30.10.12

Have you seen these photos floating around on the web? It's pictures from WWII superimposed on modern day photos in the exact same location. I cannot stop looking at them, I literally keep a browser open with them and flip back every couple of minutes. I am entranced. From designmom.

I think one trip to Europe will have to be specifically a WWII trip.
