Sew much better-

I finally bit the bullet and hemmed all my pants in one go. They needed it and I quit putting it off. The pair below (I bought at Goodwill for $3 in the men's section a couple of years ago and they have completely outlasted my expectations for them) I turned skinny as well while I was at it- I used to fold them up and between the straight leg and the cuff it was not my favorite. Now I have a viable pair of summer pants!

How messy is this bedroom!
Joshua is at work so I commandeered his room and computer to snap this photo... I went back through my iphoto library and I could not find a single picture of these jeans pre-op. I'm so annoyed. Regardless, they are so much better now.

4.2.12

Nighty night.

The best way to end the night is definitely video chatting with brother and boyfriend!!
We laugh together.

Whipped these up today for some twins who go to our church, we're making them a basket of goodies. Ombre baby hats, they'll be so in for spring!

28.1.12

Yarn is heavenly.

(An etsy blanket that is now gone)

I'm making a new blanket and for the first time I don't have anyone to give it to! It's half done and I have a long drive to Portland this weekend so it'll be almost complete by this time next week... I don't want it to sit around my room but I want it to go to the right person you know? It's a chaotic thing this blanket, lots of colors.

I'm going to switch my efforts to baby booties when it's finished I think since everyone at church gives baby blankets and I can't imagine needing seven newborn blankets. Here are two patterns. Crocheting keeps me from picking at my cuticles, I think it's my gum to cure my smoking habit you know?

18.1.12

pencil pouch.

If I had a job, I would snatch this up in a heartbeat.
My poor crochet hooks are lonely and neglected in a ratty bag... so I think I can make own?
I've never sewn a zipper before.

I don't think Bookhou makes one thing I hate.

25.12.11

Merry Christmas!!

We celebrated with my grandpa (and his new blanket- my fall creation) yesterday.
Today we invited everyone home and pulled every plate, spoon, and feeling of goodwill we had to make Christmas magic. I'm about to fall into Christmas coma.

(May your days be merry & bright, but maybe not as bright as this blanket)

30.9.11

Arsenic and Old Lace.

Movie morning again!
And this time a young Cary Grant (did you know his first name was actually Archibald?) to help me finish my blanket!

For a while, she would only lay in the middle of my squares.
Oh, don't worry, I'm not working on those or anything!

A-dorable. Totally forgiven for laying on the squares.

Mister loved the movie as evidenced by his sleep snuffles.

And after Arsenic and Old Lace, The Killers, and Morning Glory: BLANKET!!
Ready to be packaged and gifted!

21.9.11

Levis.

Mister lives with a great family in town. One thing I love is that the lady of the house is teaching me to sew! So far I've sewn two rips in misters shorts, and these pants: Levis, brand new, $10 at Value Village. They started so long and bellbottomed! The right leg was almost done in this picture; I ripped out the seam six times before I got it right (you can see all the strings I was too lazy to get off in the bottom picture). I finally finished them today and I'll take some better pictures tomorrow perhaps.

It feels good to know I can mend and do some basic altering. Another life skill conquered!

I could have waited until morning to take this in nice light and get all the dog hair off but I was really excited.
You understand.

20.7.11

Design mom posted this jumbo pillow beanbag and I realized... I could make that! What a glorious addition to my house.
Maybe to someone's house. We have a million chairs.
